ATTENTION: SKIPPERS AND CREW

FOOD COLLECTION PLAN FOR RACE DAY SEPTEMBER 12, 2009

 

IN AN EFFORT TO FACILITATE FOOD COLLECTION DROP OFF IN AN EXPEDITED MANNER, PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE FOOD COLLECTION COMMITTEE IS REQUESTING YOUR ASSISTANCE IN DOCUMENTING YOUR CREW’S POUNDS OF FOOD COLLECTED.

 

 

1)    TIME OF FOOD DROP OFF WILL BE 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM SO CREW CAN MAKE TIMELY DOCK CALLS.

2)    FOOD WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED UNLESS A FORM IS COMPLETED AND PRESENTED TO A COMMITTEE MEMBER WHICH  INCLUDES THE POUNDS OF FOOD AND/OR MONEY THAT EACH INDIVIDUAL IS DROPPING OFF AND THE SKIPPER OR BOAT THAT IT IS TO BE CREDITED TO.

3)    THERE WILL BE NO SCALES AVAILABLE THE DAY OF THE EVENT FOR WEIGHING THE FOOD.  WE HAVE FOUND THAT FOOD WEIGHTS CAN BE FOUND ON EACH FOOD ITEM AND CAN BE EASILY CALCULATED BY THE PERSON DROPPING OFF THE FOOD.  WE WILL HAVE CALCULATORS AVAILABLE AT THE DROP OFF SITE FOR YOUR USE IF NECESSARY….OR YOU CAN BRING YOUR OWN CALCULATOR.  VOLUNTEERS ON SITE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR TOTALING YOUR POUNDS OF FOOD.

4)    ALL FOOD WILL BE PLACED IN A COMMON LOCATION INSTEAD OF AT AN INDIVIDUAL BOAT LOCATION AS IN THE PAST. (THIS IS WHY THE COMPLETED FORM MUST BE RECEIVED PRIOR TO THE FOOD BEING DROPPED OFF IN ORDER FOR EACH SKIPPER TO GET CREDIT FOR THE DONATED POUNDS OF FOOD.)

5)    THERE WILL BE COMMITTEE MEMBERS ON SITE TO ASSIST YOU IF NECESSARY AND TO DOCUMENT RECEIPT OF YOUR COMPLETED FORM.  ADDITIONAL FORMS WILL BE AVAILABLE THE DAY OF THE EVENT.

6)    THE NORTHWEST HARVEST PICK UP TRUCK HAS A SCHEDULED PICKUP TIME FOR 10:00 AM FOR THE FINAL COLLECTION OF THE DONATED FOOD.

 

 

WHEN SELECTING THE FOOD ITEMS TO DONATE, PLEASE REMEMBER THAT INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES ARE ABLE TO PICK UP A WEEKS SUPPLY OF GROCERIES FROM THE FOOD BANK.  PLEASE CONSIDER DONATIONS THAT MAY INCLUDE BABY FOOD AND FORMULA.
